We will pick you up at the Tangier port on the first day of your Morocco Safaris vacation. In addition, we will go via Tetoun City and the Rif Mountains, soaking in the breath -inspiring scenery, before arriving at Chefchaouen. Chefchaouen features a plaza in the Spanish style with a unique color scheme, restaurants, and cafés. We’re going to a riad for the night.
We will drive via Wazan and other Rif mountain settlements on our way to Volubilis, the Roman Empire remains, after breakfast at the riad. We will learn about the archaeological site of Moroccan history at Volubilis. Following our tour, we will drive to Meknes City, home of the 17th-century heritage, where we will have lunch and spend the night close to the medina. In a same vein, we will have time to visit Moulay Ismail’s sacred site and explore Bab el Mansour. Following our tour of Meknes, we will go to Fes city and stay the night in a riad.
We will explore Morocco’s oldest city after breakfast, meandering through its back streets and alleys. As a result, we start our tour at the Royal Palace door, which leads to the Jewish headquarters and the first Mellah ever constructed in Morocco in the sixteenth century. In any case, we promise that you will see all the sites of cultural, historical, and social significance, such as the world-famous Al Qaraouine University, the Tanneries, the Attarine Historical Center, and Mulay Idriss. We will visit the tile cooperatives after lunch, where we will be treated to an amazing perspective over Fes’s whole Medina.
We will go to Merzouga after breakfast, first stopping at Errachidia and Erfoud. In addition, we’ll explore the fascinating Tiz Ntalghamt Pass and the Ziz Gorge, where we can take in the view of the High Atlas Mountains and see how the terrain shifts as we get closer to Errachidia, where we’ll have lunch and experience the warmth of the Berber people. In addition, we’ll go through the picturesque Ziz Valley, pausing along the way in Erfoud and Rissani to take photographs and enjoy the scenery. We are going to arrive to Merzouga Desert in the evening. We will be welcomed with a drink of mint tea upon arrival and then go to register at your riad.
We may explore the Merzouga hamlet at the start of your camel ride after breakfast. We will go to Khamlia, the home of the Gnawa people, who are originally from Mali, Senegal, and Sudan. There, we will learn about their music and way of life in the desert. In addition, we will take a journey into the desert to see nomad households and discover more about their way of life. We’re having a classic berber feast for lunch today, which includes berber pizza. In a similar vein, we will get to see Rissani’s historic city. Rissani has a sizable souk (open market) and is encircled by around 360 ksar (fortress of towers).
This was the meeting spot for the salt merchants, who came from Tombouctou in Mali, and was once known as Sijilmassa. We’ll take a leisurely walk through the souk, enjoying its alluring flavors, veggies, and handcrafted goods. Finally, we’ll take a car back to Merzouga, where we’ll get on camels and explore the highest sand dunes in Morocco. In the tent where you will spend the night, dinner will finally be served.
We continue our trip from Tangier by seeing a spectacular dawn on the Merzouga sand dunes in the Sahara. In addition, we will ride our camels back to the tourist house in order to have breakfast and take a shower. We will next go through Erfoud and Rissani to get to the Todra Gorges. We will have time to pause there, take in the scenery, and eat a traditional Moroccan lunch. Ultimately, we will reach Dades Valley to have dinner and spend the night at our riad.
We will go across the Dades Valley in the direction of Kalaa M’gouna and Ouarzazate after breakfast. There are thousands of kasbahs along the path that leads to Dades Valley. We will have several opportunities along the route to capture some of your finest pictures from the day. Additionally, we will make a lunch break at Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, which is the biggest Kasbah in Morocco and was constructed by El Glaoui, one of the last Berber chiefs, at the beginning of the XXth century. El Glaoui used to hide out at this Kasbah during his arduous treks from the Sahara to Marrakech. Among the UNESCO World Heritage Sites is the kasbah.
Finally, we will travel into the High Atlas Mountains, taking in the expansive vistas and Berber villages as we go. Upon arriving in Marrakech, we will spend the night in a traditional riad near the medina.
We will begin our day of exploration in Marrakech, sometimes referred to as “The Red City of Morocco,” after breakfast at the riad. Our guide for Morocco Safaris will make sure you see the most significant historical and cultural landmarks. The Majorelle Gardens, the Bahia Palace, the Saadian Tombs, and the Koutoubia Tower will all be on our itinerary. We will eat lunch at a restaurant close to the plaza and then stroll around the souks to see hundreds of handmade items. You will have some free time in the afternoon to explore on your own.
Following breakfast in your riad, we will start our tour of Essaouira, a coastal city. After a two and a half hour trip, we will arrive and start exploring the city. We are going to the Skala Fortress to see the craftsmen cutting Thuya wood. We’ll also see a few well-made pieces as we meander through the medina’s back alleyways. As the “City of the Wind,” Essaouira is well-known and draws surfers from all over the world. Numerous civic institutions, such as the Portuguese occupation, have existed in Essaouira. It’s still a small town with a rich past, influencing much of its architecture.
We’ll also go to the women’s cooperatives that produce argan oil. This is where they extract the oil, which is highly valued for its medicinal, culinary, and therapeutic qualities. The fish display will serve a crisp fish that has been “cooked all together” for lunch today, prepared in the Moroccan style. We’re heading back to Marrakech in the evening.
On your last day, which is your free day, your Morocco Safaris guide will transport you to the airport in Casablanca or Marrakech.
