After a memorable night at the desert camp, we embark on the third day of our 4-day Fes to Marrakech desert tour, heading towards Boumaln Dades. The morning begins with the breathtaking sight of the sunrise, followed by a hearty breakfast. Bid farewell to the desert landscape as we make our way to Rissani city, where the vibrant souk beckons with Berber and Arabic traders engaging in bustling commerce and industry. Rissani is renowned for its local delights, including the savory ‘Madfouna’ (Arabic pizza) and sweet dates. A delectable lunch awaits at a restaurant featuring the best local cuisine.
After a rejuvenating break, our journey continues through mountainous terrain, traversing the scenic Ziz Valley en route to Tinghir city. Here, the renowned Todra Gorge and its magnificent palm groves captivate the attention of many visitors. Not far from Tinghir lies Boumalne Dades, our destination for the night. This city is celebrated for its traditional architecture, rich cultural heritage, and the enchanting Dades Valley, where our riad nestles near the verdant valley and forest.
After an incredible journey spanning the past three days, we find ourselves on the fourth and final day of our 4-day tour from Fes to Marrakech. This day promises more adventures as we explore villages nestled in the mountains, providing a glimpse into the unique way of life, their resourcefulness for sustenance, and the essence of their existence.
In the morning, post a delightful breakfast, our departure from the hotel takes us through charming villages such as Magona Castle, renowned for its rose production, earning it the moniker of the ‘roses city.’ Our journey unfolds as we reach Ouarzazate, a city steeped in cinematic history, with numerous movies shot in its picturesque locales. Notably recognized for its film studios and the presence of international actors, Ouarzazate has gained fame in the film industry.
Exiting Ouarzazate, our next destination is the iconic Ait Ben Haddou kasbah, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Home to 50 families in its heyday, the kasbah now stands as a testament to traditional architecture, though weathered by time and rain. Lunch is enjoyed amidst this historical backdrop, where several films found their cinematic setting. Leaving Ait Ben Haddou, we navigate the Atlas Mountains, with their breathtaking landscapes and villages along zigzagging roads. Our journey culminates in the vibrant city of Marrakesh in the afternoon, where we head directly to our Riad or hotel. This marks the conclusion of our 4-day expedition from Fes to Marrakech.
