We leave early, picking you up wherever you’re staying. Crossing the High Atlas via the Tizi n’Tichka pass (2,260m), we climb into thin air and sweeping views—snow in winter, sun the rest of the year. The southern slope is drier, dustier, a taste of what’s to come.
First stop: Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO‑listed ksar and the finest example of Berber fortress architecture. You’ll feel the caravans that once passed through.
Then on to the Dades Valley, where adobe villages cling to a seasonal river. We spend the night in Boumalne Dades, in a cozy riad with dinner included.
Start in Tinghir—a tiny town of adobe houses, cliffs, and palm groves.
Detour to the Todra Gorges: a jaw-dropping canyon with vertical walls, perfect for photos and climbers.
Back on the road: pass kasbahs, villages, and palm oases.
Stop in Erfoud, fossil capital (dinosaur era!).
End in Merzouga—swap your wheels for camels to cross the Erg Chebbi dunes. Sleep in a luxury desert camp with dinner and mint tea.
Wake for a stunning sunrise in the dunes. After breakfast, head back to Merzouga for an off-road route.
Stop in Khamlia for Gnawa music—a soulful, UNESCO-recognized performance born from the region’s slave history.
Then, drive historic Paris-Dakar rally tracks—passing abandoned mines and old Berber or French villages.
Meet nomadic families transitioning to settled life—hear their stories of resilience.
End the day at a panoramic viewpoint overlooking the vast dunes, then enjoy dinner at a peaceful desert hotel. Easy sleep guaranteed.
Leave the desert behind. First stop: Rissani—donkey parking lots, lively markets, and historic Islamic monuments tied to Morocco’s royal dynasty.
Then drive long stretches through villages like Alnif and Tazzarine, until you hit the massive Draa Valley palm grove—one of Africa’s largest, stretching 150 km.
End in Ouarzazate for dinner and an overnight stay at your hotel.
After breakfast in Ouarzazate, visit Taourirt Kasbah—a stunning blend of Berber simplicity and Arab elegance, once home to the powerful El Glaoui family.
Then drive over the Tizi n’Tichka pass, descending through green valleys dotted with villages and farms.
Arrive in Marrakech with free time in the afternoon (if schedule allows). Driver drops you at your hotel or requested spot. End of the 5-day desert circuit.
